Stop Thinking and Go To Sleep!
Sitting down at a desk and cramming to meet the 11:59 pm deadline doesn’t always guarantee the best end result. My best and most well thought out ideas come at different times of the day, especially when I least expect it. In fact, it may not even be during the day. Most of the time it’s as if I'm drifting off to sleep. My subconscious will stumble upon an idea, and I will force myself to open my eyes and write it down. And on occasion, I’ll jolt awake in the middle of the night, in between dreams with a random idea. I’ll quickly grab my phone off my nightstand, squinting against the bright light of my screen as I jot it down, yet again in my notes app. As I turn off my phone and fall back asleep, I let the random thoughts disappear from my mind. I let my subconscious take over and guide me back into my dreams, hopeful that I will find new ideas waiting for me when I wake up.
