Stuck in Kindergarten
The Earth has rotated for over 5 thousand days since I graduated kindergarten. While my growth since then is exponential and can be measured by my mom or resume, why does it feel like none of the milestones, victories, or defeats have had any bearing on who I am?
I still see the world from a child's perspective. I will pick up a dandelion and gaze at it in awe, I am always prepared to yell "punch buggy, no punch back", and when it rains, you can count on me betting which raindrop will make it down the car window faster. But I am also a person that's shy until we're friends, thinks scary movies are real life and is the pickiest eater. I have been on a mission for the past decade to change my naive thinking because I am older now, and I am expected to be serious. My humor, taste, and outlook should have evolved, but for no good reason other than the ever-so-growing number attached to my name. After all, though, aren't children the most creative, and the ones with the ideas that could change the world? Does that mean Steve Jobs was also cloud-watching?
