The Pink Suit Jacket
In our creativity classes, we are taught that thinking outside the box should be the bare
minimum. We are taught that weird and obscure ideas should be the starting point;
however, the world says otherwise. Today, the world tells us to diminish our creative
spark. We are told to show up with a uniform resume and attire so we can fit into this
obsolete normality of living. This summer I worked that corporate 9-5 internship and
realized that the biggest creative obstacle you will overcome is thinking that weird is
wrong.
The world is full of individuals clothed in black and white suits so wear the pink suit
jacket and give the aberrant ideas.
When you realize that the world is putting out your creative flame, then you are free to
fuel your creativity with ideation gasoline.
Be the person who walks in and asks questions.
Be the person who has a colorful resume.
Be the person with the pink suit jacket in a world of black-and-white professionalism.
