Professional Kid

Professional Kid

Growing up, my parents called me a “professional kid.” I was simply good at being a kid.

Now, I wonder what criteria make one a “professional kid?”

Do they ask lots of questions? Are they playful? Do they enjoy learning? Do they embrace

their individuality? Do they laugh a lot?

After looking at George Land’s study of creativity in children and adults, I’ve discovered

that my creativity has dimmed slightly over the years. However, I believe I’ve been able to

hold onto some of my creative spark.

Being called a “professional kid” has taught me that curiosity is a positive trait. It has

reinforced my love for asking questions and learning. It has helped me truly live a life that

is mine.

Childhood doesn’t last forever, but who says we can’t all be “professional kids” forever?
