Embracing the Suck of Life

Embracing the Suck of Life

Creativity is a skill that can be cultivated through persistence, practice, and embracing failure. While nobody enjoys doing things they're bad at, true creative potential emerges when we step out of our comfort zones. Growing up with anxiety, I often avoided discomfort and challenges. However, I discovered that the best results come when we embrace the suckiness of it all.

In high school, I confronted my anxiety by joining the cross-country team, despite never running more than half a mile in my life. Embracing the discomfort of long-distance running sparked my growth and creativity. Post-graduation, I tackled the challenge of weightlifting and immersed myself in powerlifting. Over time, I grew stronger and now proudly represent Miami in powerlifting, aiming for solo national qualification.

My journey underscores that genuine growth and creativity arise from embracing life's suckiness. Stepping beyond our comfort zones, whether in sports or personal life, leads to remarkable achievements. It serves as a reminder that our potential knows no bounds when we confront our fears and embrace life's challenges head-on.
