THE CHALLENGE OF CHALLENGING BY CAMERON KOZLAY
The concept of “challenging”, whether it’s challenging yourself or challenging others. Why do we think “challenging” is always a struggle (bad)? Why don’t we see “challenging” as an opportunity instead?
Throughout my life, I have been through many situations where I had to challenge myself, I always found challenging myself to be a struggle. Before, “challenging” always seemed to come with a cost whether it was time, motivation, or even money. It was an effort for myself that I couldn't always understand as to why.
I understand for myself now, through struggle comes creativity. I learned that challenging myself was creating more opportunities for myself, but with a more narrow perspective earlier in my life, I did not see challenging myself as an opportunity but rather unwarranted time.
When I challenge myself now, I no longer have the “challenge of challenging”. I challenge myself every week because challenging myself brings out the creativity within me and helps me understand the risks/mistakes that I discover along the way.
The next challenge to challenging myself now lies with these future questions, to what degree do I want to challenge myself? How often do I want to challenge myself? Asking these questions to myself each week will determine how much conscious effort am I putting into myself and the ones around me.
