CREATIVITY LIES IN THE PROBLEMS BY REED HAABESTAD
I believe creativity is everywhere and can come in any form; it is contagious and can be
fostered. In most adults and college students, their creativity is muted by society. In order to be
truly creative, one must place themselves in the right environment and silence their voice of
judgement.
For me, my creativity is fueled by the problems I face. This typically happens when I am dealing
with a business, product, or daily task and have a negative experience. These experiences lead
me to question what solutions could be implemented to solve the problem. I strongly believe that
the customers understand the front office issues best and because they are affected by these
issues, they have an incentive to search for solutions.
Creativity needs to be practiced. To make creativity more ubiquitous in my life I try to write down
any and all ideas that come to mind. I feel that writing them down makes them seem more
legitimate and provides opportunity to revisit and revise them. Creativity is not a one step
process, it requires iteration and time, and with time, comes great ideas.
