How Music Enhances My Creative Mind

How Music Enhances My Creative Mind

When I was two years old, my mom put me in dance classes. When I was five years old, I auditioned and joined my dance studio’s competition team. From a young age, I was constantly surrounded by creativity through the art of dance. As I grew up in dance and watched the creative process behind choreography, I gained an interest in the process of creating something entirely my own instead of just being a part of someone else’s work. When I was 16 years old I started teaching classes at my dance studio and finally, at 17 years old, I started creating dances to be performed at competitions. All I can say is that it was a CHALLENGE. I had to not only come up with original work but also had to come up with my creative process. It took me a while to figure out what that looked like for me because I knew that it would be different for everyone. I have always been driven by music and specifically the lyrics in the songs. I am driven by the way it makes me feel personally. My creativity and work really stemmed from this inspiration. I have come to realize that outside of my dance life, music has driven my creativity in different aspects of my life. It allows me to get my blood pumping and ready to get to work. It truly helps me to stay fresh-minded, inspired, relaxed, and just happy.
