If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. It’s all part of the process.

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. It’s all part of the process.

Being a creative person is not easy. You must be comfortable enough with yourself to try in the first place, let alone to try again when you eventually fail for the first time, and the next, and the next time after that. It’s exactly why iteration is such a crucial part of the creative process. Far too many people my age are caught up on the necessity to be perfect, and it absolutely ruins the ability to put out any effort for some. The only thing that gets you further in life is trying and persevering through failure time and time again, so it’s senseless to me to give up the first time you hear something bad.

College is the last time in our lives that points “matter.” Let’s stop acting like they control our wellbeing. We’ve got more to live for than chasing perfection. Instead, we have to thicken our skin and chase failure in order to grow as humans.
