Accepting Failure
“How can you change something if you didn’t learn from it?”
Failure, sounds scary, doesn’t it?
This concept has always been something that I have lived in fear of. The fear of failure is one of my biggest fears: not being able to reach my goals and the things I want to get out of life.
Whenever you start school, you are taught that if you do well on exams you will not fail. This is something that I have always lived by. Doing the work, passing exams, and repeating equals not failing. This was my mentality.
Through ESP 252 I have learned that failure is actually good for you. I’ve learned that failure actually gets you to make a difference. It makes you change certain things to actually improve yourself. It can be a good thing if you take it as a learning experience.
For example, I struggled with turning in about 3 assignments and would constantly beat myself up about how I missed multiple deadlines. Because of the fear of failing to turn in an assignment on time, I created a spreadsheet with every single deadline for every assignment not just for ESP 252, but for every single class I have an assignment in.
Failure is normal, it is okay to fail. If you choose to learn from your failures and choose to make something good out of them you are in the right direction of making better changes to your life that will benefit you in the long run.
So let me ask you this: How will you learn from your failures?
