Creativity To See My Inner Child
Picture yourself as a four year old child.
You have never feared judgment, nor felt embarrassment. You are creative, you laugh, you ask questions, and you fail and get back up again.
I was once that same child: giggling and questioning everything around me, curious, interested and always learning. But creativity is unlearned, and as we grow we ask less questions, and laugh less. As I have grown, I have always attributed these melancholic and uninspired feelings to growing older, and brushed it off. I have learned and experienced that creativity is the answer. The willingness to fail and laugh, learn and grow, innovate and create new ways to see the world is creativity, and we must relearn it. Creativity itself is a learning journey. I have always loved to laugh, but I am learning to laugh at myself - my mistakes and my failures. I love to create, but I am still learning how to think beyond the box that has been placed around myself and every other student that has unlearned how to think freely and creatively.
My creativity is driven by my desire to bring back the joy and spirit this child once had. I want to allow myself to learn from my failures and embrace them, without being embarrassed. I want to use creativity in everyday life to laugh more, ask more questions, and grow. I want to look in the mirror and see that bright-eyed, unapologetically herself child staring back at me.
I will learn to see her through creativity.
