Memory
Why does everyone love looking at pictures of their younger selves?
Is it to relive those faint memories?
Is it to reminisce on when we did not use makeup or hair gel every morning before being seen in
public?
I oftentimes look back on the earliest years of my life that I can remember and miss how “easy”
life used to seem.
When a punishment was a 5-minute time-out, then it was back to running around like a chicken
with its head cut off.
The truth is, life still is that easy, we have just learned to make it hard on ourselves.
Your younger self is not a memory — It is you.
My younger self is not a memory — She is me.
Run around barefoot.
Laugh at whatever you want.
Befriend everyone in sight.
Pick up the worms on the sidewalk so they do not get trampled on during the rainy day.
Do whatever it is you used to do to make you feel the most alive.
Your younger self is begging you to.
You are not a memory — You are then, now, and the future.
