WHY CREATE A BOX?
When we are born, there is no box to think outside of, everything is fair game.
Until then we are 1, we hear “don't put that in your mouth,” from our grandma. This starts
forming the box. Later, in 1st grade, we hear “color inside of the lines, it will be prettier,” from our
teacher. This reinforces the box and makes it smaller. Later, when we are 7, we hear “That
question is stupid,” from our dad. This makes the box even smaller. These interactions are
examples of things that occur every day that create the box and teach us to be scared of what is
outside. The box makes us fear the judgment of others if we step out. But why be scared? What
is so bad on the outside?
