Creativity Begins With Copying
On February 23rd, 2015, I posted my first video on YouTube.
I copied a YouTuber I looked up to at the time’s videos. I would copy the same music, the
intro graphics, and the content of the video.
It’s exhausting copying someone else’s work; It restricts the creative experience.
Instead of copying all aspects of the videos, I began just to copy the video idea.
Creativity begins with Copying.
Copying leads to Emulation.
I started to write lists of videos I wanted to film. Then I began to give myself the creative
freedom to express my personality through my videos. I started emulating the successful
YouTubers I admired by consistently editing and filming content.
Creativity needs Consistency.
Emulation Sparks Creativity. To Keep The Spark Alive, Consistency.
I’ve been posting YouTube videos for 8.5 years. I’ve learned firsthand that when you are not
consistent, the creative spark dies.
To keep the Creativity Alive, Repeat the Process: Copying, Emulating, Consistency.
