Dealing with things you don’t want to deal with (with ADHD)
When I have something I don’t want to deal with but I have to I tend to go down
my list of dealing mechanisms. When I need to talk to a family member who I havent
seen in years, I scream for 5 seconds in order to not do it on the phone. When I have to
deal with my ex randomly contacting me after months, I go FBI and find every minor
detail about his life, like his aunt adopting a new dog, oops! When I am forced to deal
with things I don’t want to deal with I try to do 3 things that make me happy before and
after. I take a long shower and listen to GUTS, I eat a cookie while talking to my
roommate and I online shop. Some say if you just deal in life than you wont really live
life to the fullest. That is BS. Dealing is a part of life. Life isnt always on your side, and
when it’s not then you deal. My ADHD helps with dealing because I allow my braind to
do what it needs in order for me to finish things I don’t want to do. My brain decides if I
need to do homework in a new environment or if I need to wear a comfort outfit while
meeting new people. These are ways I deal with things I don’t want to deal with, with ADHD.
