Stand in the rain
I was on my patio as gloomy weather rolled in protected by the roof above me. Slowly the rain
rolled in and I felt an urge that I had not felt since I was a child.
Go out in the rain.
My family will think im going through a crisis if they see me standing outside fully clothed in the
rain.
But wouldn’t it be fun to go in the rain?
It was a slow rain. The kind that is quiet and falls so gently it looks like it’s almost in slow
motion.
Go in the rain
I stood up. My feet started moving until I found myself standing in the middle of my backyard.
They are going to think you have officially lost it.
However, I couldn’t move. The rain felt cool on my skin. It was silent outside. The only sound
was the rain tapping the trees around me. I looked around. Everything was still.
I closed my eyes and inhaled. It felt like the first real breath I had taken in a while. I felt alive. I
wasn’t thinking about school, about life, about responsibilities.
What made this small moment feel so extraordinary wasn’t the fact that I was simply out in the
rain. It was how alive I felt. How time stood still and the world stopped spinning.
To me, creativity is like standing in the rain. We often stop and question ourselves. However,
you need to just do it. Don’t worry if people are going to judge you. Just go for it.
