Beyond the expected

Beyond the expected

Like anyone else, I initially found it hard to see how creativity played a role in my everyday life. I figured that if you aren’t painting, dancing, or creating it is hard to show off any sort of creative expression. This class has helped me learn how that wasn’t true and that I can apply creative thinking into things I do in my everyday life. When you think about the world like this your life is a creative expression of who you are. I have seen this first hand during my rock climbing class. I have tried to slow my brain down and think about the problem in front of me and the different creative ways. This is opposed to the traditional approach where you follow the most obvious route. Using outside of the box thinking and trying new ways to solve the same problem opens you up to a whole new world of potential solutions. When playing tennis, I have so many opportunities for different decisions I can make throughout the course of the match. By thinking creatively about hitting unorthodox or irregular shots I have been able to open myself up to many new ideas for how to play points. This creative thinking style has benefits in all fields and I have only found it helpful the more I apply these ideas to other areas of my life.
