NO NEW IDEAS BY KATE BUCKLEY
In the age of influencers and trends, I constantly find myself asking questions like: Did I come up with this idea? Do I have any original thoughts? How do I actually feel about this?
Many of these questions leave me pondering the meaning of life, faced with the fear that I am not really a real or unique person, but just a combination of everyone I want to be and every trend I have fallen victim to. I have come to realize that these questions are somewhat normal to be asking yourself and that the feeling that you have no unique thoughts is part of being human - especially as a young adult.
My creativity comes from this place of fear. I force myself to dig deeper with my ideas and thoughts and seek the unusual, stir innovation, and invite curiosity into my everyday life. When I notice I am yet again falling into the slum of habitual routine, I stir up my thought process and ask more questions.
It is normal to give into trends and copy the lives of influencers. But, to find your own personal branding, listen to the voice of curiosity inside your head and allow it to be louder than the voice of judgement and fear. Let your curiosity lead you to your own personal brand.
