LOVING YOURSELF ISN'T VANITY. IT'S SANITY BY HOLLAND WALKER
I recently came across this quote and I was like “omg, yes.” Self care is one of my biggest passions and something I preach about on a daily basis. I’ve realized how much better everything in my life is when I dedicate time to myself.
There are different habits that work for different people, but as long you do things that make you happy, that’s what matters. Finding new activities that help me is one of the ways I am most creative in my life. I love incorporating activities in my routine that help me to feel recharged, rejuvenated and relaxed.
One of my favorite self-care habits is journaling. Taking the time to write literally anything that’s on your mind, your feelings, what you did that day, something that made you smile, a list of affirmations or some quotes you really like. Physically writing thoughts and feelings in a notebook is so therapeutic. I recommend journaling to everyone.
Some other things I enjoy are exercising, taking long walks by myself, trying new recipes, listening to uplifting music, yoga, meditation, a really long spa/pamper night and coloring books. All of these things allow dedicated time with just me and my thoughts. I’m able to calm my senses and really be in the moment.
Spending time with yourself and focusing on the things you love makes everything in life better. My relationships are healthier, I’m able to communicate more efficiently, I can focus more in class and on my work, I eat healthier and I’m just a happier person.
