APPRECIATE THE PROCESS BY QUINN KISSELL
Picture this: You’re alone in a room and all of the sudden your younger self walks into the room and sits down in front of you. You can say anything, what will it be?
For some people, it might come easy as to what you would say, and for others not so much. I don’t think I would say anything. I would just smile and be on my way. As we age, we grow, we learn more, it is a part of life and the journey that we all take. We make mistakes, we learn from them. We go through hard times, struggle and overcome.
When I was younger, I would spend countless hours every day outside of school and on the weekends coloring, crafting, building, and imagining myself in new worlds. I would lay out hundreds of colored pencils, crayons, and markers on our kitchen counter transforming it into my own creative space. Any struggles that I was going through ceased to exist when I was creating and imagining.
There is something about appreciating the past and the process to get where you are now. If I hadn’t been coloring, drawing and sketching as much as I was when I was younger, I would not be pursuing a degree in Architecture. I found my passion and though it is very challenging I enjoy it so much. Creativity is a lifestyle and has shaped me into the person that I am today. What would you say to your younger self?
