BLANK CANVAS: HOW WILL YOU COLOR YOUR WORLD? BY DEBRA GARNER

And God said, “Let there be light, and there was light.”  Creativity, where do you see it?  Everywhere and in everything.  The heavens and earth were like a black canvas to the Master Designer, nothing but darkness and void.  It amazes me the beauty of the sunrise, the midnight sky, the greenery of the land and vast depth of the sea.  The fragileness of a flower, the strength of the mountains, and the gentle cry of a newborn baby.  The song says, “He’s got the whole world in his hands.”  We too, have our world in our hands. 

 A world to embrace its beauty or corrupt it with evil.  To sustain our resources for the future or waste them away.  To bring hope to the hopeless and share our vision of a better tomorrow by learning from the mistakes of today.  The opportunity to dream, imagine and bring life to those dreams.  This drives my creativity.  Knowing that we have the ability to create change within ourselves, our surroundings and perhaps touch another life.  

Maybe a drawing, the lyrics of a song, a story to share, inspiration or new technology.  There are many ways in which we innovate.  We can look at our lives as a blank canvas.  Sometimes the artist, paints a colorful picture.  There are times when the picture looks dark and dreary.  And I imagine times of frustration when the painting comes to a screeching halt.  

I like the advice of the weaver,  not to worry about the dark threads, for the “the dark threads are as needful in the Weaver’s skillful hand, as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.” (Franklin, B.M.)  Sometimes we may experience a struggle or block in our creativity, but not to worry there is another blank canvas, tapestry to weave and products to engineer.  Let your imagination take you to higher heights as you create your world.
