NEGATIVE THINKING? NOT ON MY WATCH BY BAYLEI ZAHORANSKY

NEGATIVE THINKING? NOT ON MY WATCH BY BAYLEI ZAHORANSKY

My biggest challenge when it comes to creativity has been my self-critiquing. I have always felt my work could always be better than what it was. The challenge of self-critiquing has taught me that there are good and bad things to come from it.

Being my own critic can lead to a creative block. The only way to prevent this is to silence my inner critic. This is where I find my creative journey begins.

What do I do to silence my inner critic?

As soon as I have negative thoughts when I am working on something, I write them down. I write them down individually and read them out loud to myself. Once I have read them, I take each individual negative thought and crumple it up and throw it across the room. This is what I consider ‘throwing away the negative thoughts.’ By throwing away my negative thoughts I have acknowledged that while I may question myself, I will not let that deter me or control what I can accomplish.

For those of you who question yourself, I challenge you to silence your inner critic, throw away your negative thoughts, and let your creativity soar.
