FREE YOUR STRESS BY ALLISON SMALL
I have never been “go with the flow” EVER. I always need to know the exact plan and I get extremely stressed out when things don’t perfectly align with my schedule.
I constantly overanalyze my thoughts and that is partly due to my anxiety of not being able to control situations. One of my friends suggested over the summer that I should try meditation and yoga to relieve my stress and anxiety. I am so thankful that I listened to her because I was able to come to terms with the fact that I can only control myself. I can’t control outside factors.
This new way of thinking has released so many negative thoughts from my mind. I still become overwhelmed easily but I constantly remind myself that there is only so much that I can do. Now, I feel like I am heading in the direction of becoming more go with the flow.
Given the chance, I will always choose a set plan over deciding what to do next in the moment. With that said, I know I am capable of embarking on new adventures that I have not mapped out.
It is freeing not to care about the little things in life and this mindset has forced me to go outside of my comfort zone. I try to find more spontaneous opportunities to challenge my fears and creatively succeed at putting myself out there. I am much happier now!
