SPEAKING WITHOUT WORDS BY BRADLEY NAFZIGER
For the longest time, I have had an issue with speaking and writing and just generally conveying my thoughts and emotions through language. I constantly fumble over my words and phrases and sometimes I just need to stop and take a break. I dread every instance of written word possible: essays, blogs, narratives, you name it, I struggle with it. Having to confine these incredibly complicating thoughts and emotions into the rigid confines of specific words and grammar rules feels almost a disservice to communication between two people. But it has taught me how to get creative in terms of connecting with others. I have always loved music and through this, I can really express myself in a way that words cannot even begin to describe. The connection between two people playing together is something that can only be experienced first hand, the anticipation, the soul, the vibe, the mutual understanding I have not been able to find this anywhere else despite how hard I try. When multiple people are in on a groove, the ability for their own creativity and expression to work with the other member’s creativity is beautiful and I wish everyone could experience that moment at least once in their life.
