THE VALUE OF FUN BY SOPHIE MANESS

THE VALUE OF FUN BY SOPHIE MANESS

I realized during the values exercise that having fun is actually very important to me.

That might sound dumb to some people - fun is really as important as health? Knowledge? What about achievement?

Having fun nurtures creativity. When you’re laughing and enjoying yourself, you’re not worried about anything else in that moment. Your voice of judgment goes out the window. It’s as if you’ve reverted back to a child-like mindset. When people are having fun, you can actually watch them let their guard down - that’s where the magic happens. They go into the area of discovery.

I’ve noticed that we often have the most fun when we go beyond our comfort zone. For me, that was spontaneously deciding the week before to drive six hours and spend four days camping at an arts and music festival with my best friend. I was a little in shock when we first arrived, definitely overwhelmed and slightly uncomfortable. I never expected that I would leave feeling more inspired than ever with memories that have shaped who I am today.

I dare you to not only make fun a priority, but to challenge the ways in which you do it.
