FIND YOUR SWEET SPOT BY KATI BUCHHEIT
im·pulse (noun): a sudden strong and non reflective urge or desire to act; a driving or motivating force, an impetus.
I often have this fear that if I wait on something too long — an idea, an opportunity, or a desire—that it will slip away. I think back to the most memorable moments in my life—moments that challenged me and taught me valuable things about myself—and realize almost all of them happened as a result of some sort of impulsive act. From my experience, we are so quick to suppress our impulses due to fear of failure. We spend so much time tossing around the pros and cons and worrying about how others will react that we act too late.
Now, I’m not saying to let your urges or desires steer you down a path of self-destruction. I’m saying to find your sweet spot. Find that balance between trusting your gut, and thinking things through. Say "yes" more. Pursue that opportunity that scares the hell out of you. Speak unapologetically. Eat that raw brownie batter straight out of the bowl. Dance with the uncertainty of that impulsive decision. Roll with the punches. It may lead you to something truly unexpected — something truly exceptional.
