INSPIRATION I DO NOT WANT TO MISS BY LAUREN WILSON

INSPIRATION I DO NOT WANT TO MISS BY LAUREN WILSON

I have a fear of running out of time and it happens to me daily. I find myself so wrapped up in my daily tasks and focusing on being productive, that I am in a daze. I get things done but I feel like I always run out of time.

I have learned that this happens when you are idle and just going through the motions. It is easy to do, but you never feel ahead.

In this constant state of motion, I miss the simple things that would allow my creativity to bloom.

I don’t notice that the big oak tree I always pass on the way to class is changing to hues of orange.

I don’t notice way the dawning light reflects off my window, causing my room to radiate warm, pink light.

I don’t read my morning pages that could have given my inspiration for my day.

Creativity is killed when time is wasted, and I have realized that I have the ability to create time for things that I care about.

I just must be intentional and prioritize things that inspire our creative processes.

I encourage all of you to be present. Create time to notice the simple things that bring you all joy.

Whether it be that time of day that excites you or noticing that the barista took the time to make a foam flower in your latte. Seek out these things that make you feel present and embrace them.

Life is comprised of moments and creating moments are something we control for ourselves.  Think about how many moments we miss because we are going through the motions.

Capture as many as possible moments, no matter how big or small they might seem.  The creative inside will thank you.
