THE TEAM SPORT OF CREATIVITY BY NATE GILLETTE
It is vital as future contributors to our society that we unlock the creative reserves of our minds that we tapped into so regularly as children. Doing so takes a lot of individual focus, practice, and failing/learning.
With these, one can learn to ask the right questions, accept ambiguity, pivot established plans, silence their voice of judgment, be fluid and flexible in their thinking, take risks, and perform all the other tactics that stoke creativity. This will help the individual excel and contribute in whatever environment they are placed in, professional and casual alike.
There is one thing, however, that will take the potential of creativity to the next level: a creative community.
No matter the chemistry between the individuals working together and no matter the number of people it is, if each person is exercising creative thinking and interaction, the resulting success will dwarf what can be done by a lone creative mind.
Working together not only increases idea quantity, but also diversity and perspective. Furthermore, the team aspect of harnessing and implementing creativity brings large scale organization, unity under a shared vision, and confidence brought about by numbers.
Humans not only have creative minds, but also community. To not use these together to blow open the doors of opportunity would simply be foolish.
