KEEPING CREATIVITY IN SHAPE BY MATT HOLDEN
The human mind is very similar to the human body. It needs to be worked out and conditioned to stay in shape. Though I struggle every day to be creative, I try to keep my mind active and practice creativity.
Before I picked up this course this semester, creativity was something that rarely crossed my mind. “I’m not creative, leave that for the clowns in Hollywood.” I thought it was only for artsy people. But, I’ve discovered that creativity is more about discovering new ways to think; it is about not settling for the first right answer, but allowing yourself to remain open to many different iterations of an idea.
I now strive to keep my mind active, and to keep my creativity in shape. I see things differently: in every aspect of life there are multiple ways to solve a problem.
Creativity drives innovation. Innovation drives progress. Human beings strive for progress. As much as I push to keep my body in shape, I will continue to keep my mind in shape. Non-creatives get left behind, and I want to be the best.
