PRACTICE LIKE A SENIOR BY MACK DUFFIN
Many football players will tell you practice is the worst part of their day. Often times, it’s physically and mentally draining. Your body hurts from last week’s game and your brain is spinning from all the new plays installed in the playbook. There can’t be anything worse than having a two hour practice. Like most players, I hated practicing. I would dread strapping up my pads to bang heads with another massive man. I felt this way until my senior year when I realized that this season is all I have left.
I started going to practice with a positive mindset, over-the-top energy, and pure passion. I focused more intensely on my technique and learned from my errors. Rather than doing anything to simply get through the time, I did everything to make the most of it.
The results surprised me. My passion manifested and I began to savor every single rep I got. I evolved from a steady back-up player to a trusted starter by the middle of the season. I wasn’t any bigger or stronger than the season before, but my mindset was transformed.
I learned that when you apply positive and smoldering passion to what you do the results will exceed any prior expectations. Don’t wait to be a senior!
