Back when we were kids

Back when we were kids

Growing up at Norris Lake every summer, my siblings, cousins, and I always found ways to cure

our boredom. Many years back, we all were sitting on the dock until my cousin looked over and

said, “Picture this: seven tubes all behind one boat”. At that moment, an idea was born.

Quickly we tried to convince our parents this was a good idea. Surprisingly, they said yes! Chaos

promptly ensued. We had kids falling off tubes left and right. We had jet skis picking us up and

dropping us back onto the tube. At one point, some of our uncles even joined us, started

wrestling matches between some of us, and had just as much fun as we were having.

Ever since that afternoon, this tube ride has become a fun tradition between our family and

other friends throughout our cove. It has also sparked other crazy ideas like towing a loveseat

on skis down the lake. However, it also taught us kids to dream big and think outside the box. I

know now that even in situations where things seem mundane, a creative solution is right

across the cove.
