I am bad at art.

I am bad at art.

I am bad at art

But that doesn’t mean I am not creative. My whole life I was always receiving bad grades and

harsh critiques in art and I was, in turn, “not creative”. I was taught to believe that to be a

creative person, you had to perfectly sketch an animal or a field of flowers or make a beautiful

vase in that one pottery class you had to take in high school.

That could not be further from the truth. Well, yes, it’s true that all of my artwork sucks. But it’s

not true that I am not creative. I now know that creativity is more than art. Creativity is the way I

can cook any meal in the absence of a recipe. It’s the way I planned trips for my friends abroad.

It’s the way I am a problem-finder. It’s in the way I run different routes. It’s in everything, not just

art. Creativity is not always a product, it is a process.
