Parents' Affection Encourages Creativity

Parents' Affection Encourages Creativity

Growing up, teachers always instructed me to “lower my voice” and “to stop talking so much”.

This used to hurt my feelings as I was just trying to express myself in the only way I knew how

to at a young age. My one teacher used to always joke that I would still talk to the wall if she

were to separate me from my classmates.

I find myself now being reminded of times like this and tend to stop myself before I over speak

or raise my voice. When this voice of judgment comes to deter me I always think back to how

my parents never let me feel this way.

My mom and dad always let me be me. They let me express myself in whatever way I wanted

when I was at home. They let me talk loudly, to myself, to my dolls or quite literally anything

else. They let me use my imagination and I thank them for always letting me be creative.
