Follow the River

Follow the River

by Drew Merz

Creativity is like an ever-flowing river. It shapes the surrounding environment, continuing to flow against all natural obstacles. Always running, always changing. A fallen tree or bolder may block the waterway for a moment but the water always finds a way around even if it means it must tear down the walls that keep it contained. When thinking creatively, no barrier can contain you. No thought to absurd, no idea not worth exploring. When stuck, we take a different route. If that fails, the river’s strength will grow and grow until whatever is blocking no longer stands a chance against the sheer force of the flow. True creatives do not care about what challenges stand in front of their vision. By bringing their ideas to creation, they make an impact on all. Much like how the flora and fauna of the area benefit from the hydration given off of the waterway. The creative river is laid across the land for all to see. It leaves use with the choice of following and exploring it or turning our backs. Choose to trust the river and follow it wherever it may lead.
