CREATIVITY DOESN'T COME EASY, IT'S HARD WORK BY NOLAN GEIS

Creativity is not something that I feel has always has been my strongest characteristic. I wouldn’t say that I am a not creative person, however, it really just isn’t something I have practiced or explored a lot. This class is one of the first times in my life I have truly taken the time to look inward and work toward my creative self.

Some things I have identified about my creative self are that I work better and am my most creative when I am working with people, and when I allow myself to take risks. Times, when I do my best work, is also when I have had time to clear my head, whether that be taking a walk, working out, or doing anything active. I also feel my most creative when I work at night. My mind flashes with thoughts at night and I feel I do some of my best work around this time.

Nature has always been something that I have grown up loving to be around. Miami has a beautiful campus, and as a soon-to-be graduated senior, I don’t feel like I explored or admired the beauty of the campus as much as I could have. I have recently taken multiple trips to Heuston Woods, taken walks around campus, and in parks around Oxford. Being in nature and alone with my thoughts is very relaxing for me and also allows me to be the most creative version of myself.

All in all, creativity is something that I have neglected to work on my whole life, I have never really taken enough time to look inward and work on myself. It is something I realize is incredibly important to the person I am, and to my future self. Creativity doesn’t come easy, it's hard work.
