WHAT'S YOUR PASSION? BY AUDREY ALLEN
I never considered myself creative until recently. Before, I believed creativity was a personality trait people gained from living imaginative lifestyles of leisurely adventure. I do not live this way. I live a life focused on achieving personal success. So how does such an individual reserve time for harnessing creativity they do not inherently possess? They don’t. Instead, they conjure creativity from focusing on their goals.
I came to this conclusion after learning the term “wicked problem,” which defines an entanglement of issues with near-impossible solutions, for example, the issue of climate change. To work toward diminishing these complex challenges, creative problem solving is necessary. In other words, I need to be creative to achieve the goal that inspires me the most: reversing environmental damage. I soon found myself generating the creativity needed to pursue my dream. It was then that I realized passion elicits creativity.
Focus on the goals you prioritize most to inspire creativity rather than force it. When working toward your greatest desires, creativity will come to you more willingly. It is then that you can harness its power and become the most creative version of yourself.
