CHANGING THE NATURE OF THE FUTURE BY MARHIAS ADJEI

At times the most bitterness one can experience is when one’s own family member decides to abandon him or her. In my case, it was worse. I wasn’t only abandoned but my mother and my other brother all faced the trauma of leaving my elder brothers’ home. This was the greatest encounter I have swallowed, realizing my brothers’ decision not to cater for me grew into severe hatred for my family.

I remember vividly how I almost lost the opportunity to attend a High School because I had no funds. But I wouldn’t give up though I knew my elder brother could have helped. Through perseverance, I won a scholarship to fund my education in high school. The hatred entrenched in my brothers’ heart never made him proud of such a feat. But to see my mother and other brothers’ belongings outside their rooms, ready to evacuate, I felt the tide and waves of the world beating so much at me. Hope was lost and my mother’s throbbing tears cut me to the heart.

Today, my mum lives in a small room that I have worked hard to cater for. And even such hatred I have passed through has not drained me of any peace movements to bring my family together. The greatest joy I felt was to see all my family once again in a family reunion I organized this week. And the truth is that the world has special people like me, ready to reconcile all hatred with peace and Love.
