Laughter truly is the key to creative success. I have sent many a night in the basement of Farmer, working through the brainstorming tools I have, trying to come up with fluency and flexibility. And guess how that went? Badly! I have been able to come up with better and a higher quantity of ideas while grabbing lunch with friends or joking around in someone’s dorm than any time when I am alone. I know it’s been a good brainstorming session when I have to write it on a receipt or my arm because I forgot my sharpie and sticky notes at home. But why is it? My hypothesis is that laughter truly lets your Voice of Judgement go, so you can pitch your craziest ideas with no fear of being shot down. So, maybe the next time you need a couple ideas, call up your friends and get ready to laugh!
