CURIOSITY DIDN'T KILL THE CAT SOCIETY DID BY CAROLINE TIERNEY

CURIOSITY DIDN'T KILL THE CAT SOCIETY DID BY CAROLINE TIERNEY

I invite you to pause for a moment and think about the time in your life when you were the most curious, a time when everything was new and exciting and you had to get your hands on every little thing to experience it fully. For many, they would probably say that they just pictured themselves as a child. Why is this? Why are children widely considered to be some of the most curious people on the planet? And why do we lose this curiosity as we grow into adulthood?

When we’re young, we are encouraged to try new things, put ourselves out there, make new friends and ask questions… but as we grow older the unspoken rules of society that dictate every decision we make, down to the nitty gritty private aspects of our lives, begin to tighten their grasp on our creative minds. Before our very eyes, without even realizing, we lose our ability to think critically, to question authority, to choose a different path, and most importantly, to do what makes us happy. Instead we do what we believe society will find acceptable, convinced that is the key to our happiness.

You don’t have to fit a mold, as much as you may think you do. Society favors those who don’t make waves, so it seems only right that you should bring on a tsunami. Ask hard questions, break out of your comfort zone, and be bold in your endeavors because at the end of the day the only judgement that matters is your own.

You, and only you, can decide how to live your life, and how exciting it is to lead with curiosity when society so badly wants you not to!
