THE TOO MUCH GENE BY MADELYN DEISTER

THE TOO MUCH GENE BY MADELYN DEISTER

Ever since I was a little kid, I have been ridiculed for having the “too much gene”. I never colored in the lines, I painted with so many colors that the painting would turn brown, and I when decorating cookies, they would become a ball of multicolored icing and sprinkles. When, growing up I suppressed this “too much gene” and tried to make my work just like everyone else’s, like I was taught to do. I did this all the way through high school and I am still working on trying to bring some of my “too much gene” back into my life to improve my creativity. If only I could still have the brain of 7-year-old soccer ball faced me.
