WHO REALLY CARES? BY SHELBY AVERY

WHO REALLY CARES? BY SHELBY AVERY

All throughout high school and college I had found myself acting in a way with far too many other people in mind. I didn’t wear something funky I just bought because I didn’t want to look weird, I bit my tongue when I had a really stupid joke to make, I only posted my best most aesthetically pleasing photos on social media.

I'll admit it: I cared too much about what other people think about me.
My fear of rejection and my push to impress people held me back from being my complete, authentic self. Until I realized that nobody actually cares.

That sounds dark, but I promise it's not. I've learned to recognize everyone is living their own individual life and not to get caught up in thinking about how other people are perceiving you.

Life is too short to live how you think other people want you to and life is too precious to waste it doing something you're not excited about. The only way to really stop caring about what others think of you and to gain complete creative freedom in your life is to just ask yourself, “who really cares?”

You will quickly realize that nobody cares, and nobody is looking at you. So, do what you want and wear those new pants you love that everyone said were weird, tell your stupid dad joke, and post that unedited picture you are too scared to post. Because, who cares?
