THOUGHTS AFTER ANOTHER ALL-NIGHTER BY CHARLIE SNEE
I’ve been thinking a lot about the sun.
Maybe it’s because I’m a Leo (the zodiac sign ruled by the sun). Maybe it’s human nature. Almost every society throughout history has some sort of sun story or deity.
More specifically, I’ve been thinking about how the sun always rises.
Not merely as a matter of scientific fact. Yes, Earth will rotate at about 1,000 miles per hour, and every 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.099053 seconds the sun will have risen and set again.
It is more than that. The sun will rise indiscriminately, consistently, without any regard for how you have spent that day. Whether you have triumphed or failed, ran or sat still, cried or laughed or done a bit of both; the sun will rise.
And while one can choose to find a sense of hopelessness in the sheer indifference of the universe, I have been trying to find hope in the promise of a clean slate. A series of chances to create, try again, try harder, and rest when it is needed.
Allow this to become a part of your creative cycle. A fresh start, even if you’ve stayed up through the night.
Like the sun, choose to start anew.
