IMMERSION IN THE OUTDOORS BY KALEIGH SEELY
When you’re backpacking, all you have are the clothes on your body and whatever you could fit in your backpack. You are unplugged from technology and exposed to the wonders of the world. Some may feel at peace, but some may feel uncomfortable. Some may feel strong, and some may feel weak. Nature can take you on a journey and spit you out on the other side. You have very limited supplies, and you have to be creative when faced with a problem.
There have been multiple studies correlating creativity and nature. Psychologists from the University of Utah found that backpackers scored 50% better on a creativity test after spending four days in nature. If you ever feel stuck in the creative process, unplug from technology and go outside. Go get a change in scenery and challenge yourself. You may be surprised about what you are capable of.
