WHEN OTHERS THINK ITS "WEIRD"...DO IT ANYWAYS BY MORGAN LANTZ

Growing up with a huge mind for imagination has led to me doing many things that can be classified as “weird”.

From painting crazy abstract art, pretending I am a famous pop singer, dancing to my own conceptual music videos, and planning random events … I have always found joy in being weird.

Why you may ask?

Because what isn’t weird is normal and to me, normal translates to basic, and basic is boring. Why would I want to be boring?

I’m not going to lie and say it’s easy to stay weird. What is easy, however, is getting lost in the mentality that our society loves to convince us of. And that, my people, is to do what is familiar.

Living in a society that frowns on anything that escapes familiarity, I must constantly remind myself that I have the freedom to express myself and all its weirdness. When I hold onto my weirdness, I keep a tight grasp on the most creative and authentic pieces of myself.

So, when I find myself asking the question: “What is everyone else doing?” ... I stop and in turn ask myself 1 question:

1. “What’s going to make me the happiest … option normal or option weird?”

Moral of the story – When others think it’s weird … do it anyway and do it in confidence.
