TALKING TO MYSELF BY JAMIE SANTARELLA

TALKING TO MYSELF BY JAMIE SANTARELLA

This is a weird time, and it’s made me weirder. I’ve always talked to myself, I even sing a thought every now and then, but it’s to a new extreme as I find myself alone, and quite bored, in quarantine.

The conversations I’ve been having with me, myself, and I have kept me entertained. We’ve reminisced on funny memories, planned our day, and even discussed how the world’s current situation is really making us feel. There’s a good chance that I’m going mad.

But that’s the thing. You’ve got to be a little crazy to be creative.

I’ve always been told by my English teachers, and now journalism professors, to read your work OUT LOUD. “You’ll catch more mistakes this way,” they’ve said.

I believe it’s the same in life. Talk to yourself, OUT LOUD, not just in your head. You’ll catch more of your mistakes this way, and find more, and better, ways to improve.

Go mad, see what happens.
