GONE FISHING BY CAM MIKULA
Fishing is more than fish; it is a never-ending journey to finding your true self. Most fisherman never realize it is not fish that they are after. They spend every waking hour of the day on the water trying to catch the fish of their lifetime. When in reality they are chasing something other than the trophy fish.
I have been intrigued by this never-ending chase my entire life. Going fishing is a way for me to leave my troubles behind and creatively vent. When it is just myself and the open ocean I feel at peace with life. This allows me to look at things from new perspectives and think creatively. When I’m on the boat I always discover something new.
Being a fisherman takes courage. You must brave all mother nature has to offer in order to succeed. The same goes for creativity. To be a creative person, you must have the courage to think and act differently. When a storm hits do not head for shore; stay your course and never quit. If your line snaps and you lose a big fish don’t get upset; have the courage to learn from your mistakes. When your boat stalls don't panic; think creatively to get yourself out of the situation.
