CREATIVITY AND INTROSPECTION BY AUSTIN WALTER
All my life I've felt like my creativity has been stifled. As young as I can remember, I was told to sit down and be quiet. Told when to play and when lunchtime was. Told I couldn't do things a different way. My younger self didn't know that breaking the rules in honor of creativity didn't mean disturbing the class, but I was frustrated. I couldn't be myself.
I've always been energetic and inquisitive. I'm curious and very observant, so investigating things and asking questions is something I do a lot of. Being in this mindset as a kid and being told it's not "the way a kid should act" really affected the way I approached learning. It really seemed like all I was learning was how to follow my VOJ.
I knew growing up that I was meant to be creative and expressive in my own ways. I've spent much of my time reflecting on myself and how I can fulfill the potential I possess. Here are some quotes that have helped me maintain my creative confidence.
Focus on progress.
If I change nothing, nothing changes.
The goal is to die young, as late as possible.
