MY OWN WORST ENEMY BY MEGAN WORTHINGTON
Growing up, the biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is myself.
I have always struggled with the idea that everyone around me was judging my every move and tallying the failures. I worried too much about what everyone else thought, that worry controlling every aspect of my life.
Lacking the confidence required to defend my decisions and ideas, I relied on validation from others to measure my self-worth and success.
This does not lead to a life of creativity.
I’ve made it my mission to overcome this voice of judgment. I vow to seek out adventure, ambiguity, and failure.
After traveling across Europe with my best friend, joining new organizations, and seeking out new roles of leadership, I have seen the improvement within myself.
I have learned my worth and no longer listen to anyone who tries to define it for me.
Day after day I continue to work towards the value of creative confidence, and little by little, the light at the end of the tunnel becomes brighter.
