THE TALE OF THE NIGHT OWL BY GIANMARCO PETRELLI

THE TALE OF THE NIGHT OWL BY GIANMARCO PETRELLI

Our day to day almost solely consists of logging on to Zoom classes and meetings, doing our best to stay healthy, eat right, and have some semblance of a social life.

The monotony of an online education and navigating a world full of risks dulls us. We almost become zombies moving through the motions of the days.

Despite all these challenges, I unexpectedly found a new source to spark my creativity: the 3AM red hat in the silence of the night.

More recently, as I have been drowning in the work of my semester. I found that when I am all done for the night, I began naturally reflecting on the day and my current state. This red hat of some sorts, or a more emotion based clarification, is something that I have found that has helped keep me in sync with myself.

I also found that having an open dialogue, journaling with myself has been extremely helpful and needed. It’s become so evident that in order to grow, we need to own our actions and what we do that might not be productive.

Being honest to myself, acknowledging what I could have done more or differently, has allowed me to grow. I also found that, just as an owl does in the silence of the night, I too found the time in the middle of the night great to pause, reflect and learn.

I encourage you to find your own 3 AM owl reflection time, and let yourself be at peace so you can grow.
