DOING THINGS MY OWN WAY BY CHI PHAM
This was me trying to fly by attaching balloons to my overalls.
I asked every adult at my mom's company's Christmas party to tie their balloons to me so I could fly. Sadly, at the end of the party, I was still on the ground. However, I didn't give up. I was going to attend more parties until I could gather the number of balloons I needed. I went to sleep refusing to take the balloons off. Only when my mom told me that I would fly away in my sleep and wake up in the sky without her that I reluctantly gave up the balloons for sleep. Shortly after that, I discovered the airplane so I stopped my balloon journey.
As I grew up, there were no less interesting quests than the balloons. However, those stories slowly disappeared the older I get.
I guess the stress of being an adult and the pressure that I put on myself to be good so that I can take care of myself and my family became too big that I forget I was once a child.
Seeing this picture reminded me of my creative potential and my creative habits as a child. I realized I need to stop trying to be good at other people’s games and start playing my own game the way I used to.
I need to start doing things my way again.
